Dead Reckoning- A Sookie Stackhouse Novel- Charlaine Harris

Ok so today I finally finished the new Sookie Stackhouse novel and I thought it was good. I think there could have been a better ending but I guess that is what the next book is for! Even thought the writer likes to keep her readers in suspense, it is still hard to not know what will happen in her next novel. We have another year to wait so I do hope it goes by fast!

Tips for book browsing/buying

I am in a posting mood right now so I thought I would list some tips you could use when looking for a book or even buying one.

1. If you see a book you really like or find interesting but don't want to pay the cover or store price, type the book title and author into your phone and save it as a message so when you get home you can look it up on Amazon.com and more then likely you will find it for much cheaper.

2. If you have a Iphone, which sadly I don't,you can use the price match app which tells you what stores have the book for less.

3.If you are ever wondering when a author you like is coming out with a new book, go to their website to check it out, most of the time you will see a new book and the date it is coming out.

4. If you are waiting for a new book to come out but don't want to pay full price, go to Amazon.com, look up the title and click on Pre-Order. When you Pre-Order the book, it will be half the original price and it takes the money out of your account that day and when the book is released, it will be shipped to your house.

5.When going to a bookstore, go to the clearence section first. I know first hand that you can find some great books for dirt cheap. You may just find a book or two you have been wanting in the clearence section. When I go to Borders or Half-Price I go straight for the clearence.

6. USE COUPONS!!!! If you are a border's member they will send you coupons thru your email, just print them out and use it! If you don't have a membership sign up for one, it's free! Also, at Border's if you are a border's plus member like myself( that is $20 a yr), you get an additional 10% off no matter what, so you are saving extra money every time you go. Also, if you are not on the Half-Price books mailing list, get on it! They send you coupons thru the mail and several at a time. Coupons are awesome!

Trip To The Bookstores Today!

Today I was spoiled and got to go to 2 bookstores, so I was a very happy camper! I went to Border's to use my 50% off coupon and I got the new Sookie Stackhouse book that came out a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to start it. There were so many other books I wanted to buy but I didn't so instead any books I did find I just simply typed the title and author's name into my cell phone so I can look them up on Amazon.
After Border's I went to Half-Price Books and only bought 4 books which is really good for me! I love to go to the big clearence shelf where most of the time I find books for just $1!!! This time I didn't find that many books but that's ok because next weekend is there Memorial Day Sale which I do plan to hit up!

Hope everybody is having a great weekend!

The Girl Who Stopped Swimming-Joshilyn Jackson

The Book I am currently reading is called ....

The Girl Who Stopped Swimming- Joshilyn Jackson

Summary - copied from the Author's website

Laurel Gray Hawthorne needs to make things pretty, whether she's helping her mother make sure the very literal family skeleton stays buried or turning scraps of fabric into nationally acclaimed art quilts. Her estranged sister Thalia, an impoverished Actress with a capital A, is her polar opposite, priding herself on exposing the lurid truth lurking behind middle class niceties. While Laurel's life seems neat and on track--a passionate marriage, a treasured daughter, and a lovely home in suburban Victorianna--everything she holds dear is suddenly thrown into question the night she is visited by the ghost of a her 14-year old neighbor Molly Dufresne.

The ghost leads Laurel to the real Molly floating lifelessly in the Hawthorne's backyard pool. Molly's death is inexplicable--an unseemly mystery Laurel knows no one in her whitewashed neighborhood is up to solving. Only her wayward, unpredictable sister is right for the task, but calling in a favor from Thalia is like walking straight into a frying pan protected only by Crisco. Enlisting Thalia's help, Laurel sets out on a life-altering journey that triggers startling revelations about her family's guarded past, the true state of her marriage, and the girl who stopped swimming.

So far I am about half way thru the book and I find it to be  pretty interesting. I like the anticipation it makes you feel when  wandering who did this horrible crime to an innocent child. When I finish the book I will come back with a full review!

Well I just finished The Girl Who Stopped Swimming and I thought it was a very good book! I never expected the book to turn out like it did! It was sort of like suspence, mystery and fiction rolled into one novel. I would recommend this book for sure! Now it is off to the next book...Sookie Stackhouse's Dead Reckoning!

My Library Of Books

I have been reading and collecting novels since I was a child, since the time I was 7 or 8 years old. I got my love of reading and my love of novels from my late father and for that I will always be greatful. I remember as a child he would always take my sister and I to the library and to the Half Price Books stores and buy us books. As a child I have read The Babysitter Club series, Fear Street, Bearnstain bears and as I got older I started reading Fiction.
I know alot of people don't like to read or say they don't have time but I am glad I had the chance to be introduced to the world of reading. As of today I have 135 novels ( and counting) on my bookshelf that I have collected and thought were worth saving over the years. I have thought about buying a Nook, or a Kindle or some other kind of electronic reading device but I think it's pretty cool to be able to show off all of my tresured novels to anybody who is a avid book reader like myself. I guess I like the fact that I myself have actually read all of these books!
Besides the 135 novels on my bookshelf, I also have a collection of novels I have bought but not have read yet due to the fact that I am obbessed with buying books any chance I get! :). I always tell myself and others that untill I have read every unread book , I will not go to the bookstore to buy any new ones but of course I never live up to that promise!
I decided to start a book blog for all those other book lovers out there who share the same passion as I do for reading. I hope for whoever reads my blog will find a book out of my collection and try reading it for themselves along finding the joy of it like I have.
